I specialize in working with adolescents and couples. I help teens and their parents overcome the barriers to effective communication. Whether helping a struggling teen or a couple in distress, my efforts focus on helping individuals stay in the "present moment" to avoid unproductive and harmful storytelling. This keeps the energy focused on the desired outcomes as opposed to the endless blame-game-cycle. I work hard to help people transfer the energy in therapy to their daily lives. Helping people recognize their ability to "re-author" their past experiences helps provide them with a new process toward change.
Working with difficult issues as depression, anxiety, relationship distress, anger, ADHD, substance abuse, bullying, eating disorders and self-esteem problems, I help adults and kids take an active role in therapy. Through destigmatizing the idea of therapy, I challenge individuals and couples to take an active role in creating change.
As a family systems therapist, I have unique training in understanding the interactional patterns of individuals and families. Working from a relational perspective, I maintain an awareness of the needs of all family members. My work is proactive, deliberate and focuses more on present issues than past pain.

Additional Comments: Psychotherapy still remains very taboo to so many people in need of support. I try to use my personality along with my clinical skills to take away the "psycho-babbly" perceptions that people often have about therapy. Whether you are coping with some depression, anxiety, adhd or relationship issues, the heart of therapy lies in challenging assumptions about yourself that may not be as accurate as you might have been led to believe.
In my years of working with individuals and families, I have discovered that the key to achieving the type of results that people are looking for lies not in their ability to manage or avoid pain, but more so in their ability to maintain a daily mindfulness of their desired goals.
